Emergencies

In case of a dental emergency please call our main office number at 256-890-4005 for further instructions on how to either reach our on-call clinic staff member.

How are Appointments Scheduled?

The office attempts to schedule appointments at your convenience and when time is available. Preschool children should be seen in the morning because they are fresher and we can work more slowly with the child for their comfort. School children with a lot of work to be done should be seen in the morning for the same reason. Dental appointments are an excused absence. Missing school can be kept to a minimum when regular dental care is continued.

Please make every effort to keep scheduled appointments.  Once an appointment is scheduled, it is considered confirmed.  If an appointment needs to be rescheduled, a 48 hour notice is appreciated.  There may be a missed appointment charge if 24 hour notice is not given.

Do I Stay with My Child During the Visit?

The initial appointment (at age 1-2) is always conducted with the parent present. As your child begins to be ready to separate from you as the parent (3-4 years of age),  we ask that you allow your child to accompany our staff through the dental visit.

Insurance & Payment Procedures

Dental care for children is an important part of their total health program. We believe that caring for your child's teeth should not become a financial burden for you. In the event that full payment is not possible at the time services are rendered, we have some payment methods that may assist you.

If you have dental insurance you are aware that these plans vary greatly. We will help you review your benefits. For your convenience, we also accept major credit cards.

Pediatric Dentistry

Pediatric Dentistry is the dental specialty recognized by the American Dental Association which encompasses comprehensive dental care for all children, from infancy through adolescence.

Children’s dental specialists like Dr. Moffett is a practitioner who, after becoming a general dentist (often called a family dentist), has completed an additional two years of post-doctoral training in the recognition and treatment of children’s dental services.

Specialty education includes child psychology, behavior guidance, preventive techniques, restorative dentistry, and the treatment of children with special needs. Dr. Moffett has gone beyond the requirements of a Pediatric Dental Specialist, becoming Certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.

A thorough exam will be done to evaluate the health of your child’s teeth, gums and mouth. Dr. Moffett will evaluate your child's growth and development and check to make sure your child’s oral development is on track.  Our office will make child-specific recommendations for the need of sealants, fluoride and other services based on your child’s individual needs and habits.

What is a Board Certified Pediatric Dentist?

When a Pediatric Dentist is Board Certified it means that the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry or ABPD certifies that the dental care being provided is based on standards of excellence that lead to high quality oral health care for infants, children, adolescents and patients with special health care needs. Certification by the ABPD provides assurance to the public that a Pediatric Dentist, like Dr. Moffett has successfully completed accredited training and a voluntary examination process designed to continually validate the knowledge, skills and experience necessary to the delivery of quality patient care.

We strive to make each visit fun, educational and memorable for you and your child!

Establishing Your Child’s Dental Home

Anticipatory guidance regarding growth and development.

“I am dedicated to making your child’s dental experience a fun and comfortable one, with emphasis on using encouragement to build confidence for the future.”

Our first visit is fun and easy for everyone...

Getting to know Dr. Moffett will be a fun and enjoyable experience for you, your child, and us. We will review your child’s history, and make sure you are comfortable with our procedures and staff. Below are several questions that you may have before your first visit.

Click on a question!

  • What should I bring on my first visit?

On your first visit to our office, please bring your insurance card and a valid driver’s license.

Your insurance determines your coverage.  Any amount not covered by your insurance will be due that day.

You will not need to bring in any forms - we use electronic paperwork you can fill-out here.

  • Do you accept dental insurance?

We accept many insurance plans and as a courtesy, we will submit your insurance claim for you.  The portion that is not covered by the insurance company is your responsibility and due at the time of service.

It is a benefit to you to know and understand what your insurance benefits are, including deductibles and co-pays. Regrettably, we do not dictate insurance policies and can only work with them. We will make every effort to help you understand what your coverages are.

  • What can I expect to pay for our visit?

We would be happy to discuss fees and insurance with parents prior to the first visit in our office.

Our business staff will discuss this with you, and answer any questions you may have prior to making your first appointment.

  • My child may be nervous. Can you help?

It is quite normal for children to be anxious about their first visit to the dentist.  Pediatric dentists have special training in helping anxious children feel secure during treatment. Also, pediatric dental offices are designed to make children feel comfortable. Dr. Moffett and his team will do their best to make your child comfortable.  Feel free to let your child bring their favorite comfort toy or blanket.  Team members choose to work in our pediatric dental practice because they enjoy working with children.

  • We have several children and scheduling is important to us.
Do you run on time, and will you see all my children at once?

Seeing several children in one family at the same time is never a problem for our staff.  We know that our parents have busy schedules, and we do our best to stay on  schedule at all times.
